Saying Goodbye

This is the hardest part of moving. I don't really think I will miss the house, it's the memories, the community and the friendships we have all made.

Sunday our friends the Walkers had us over for dinner. Our family really appreciated this since we had no way to cook any food and the kids were really bored. We had a fun time visiting and playing at the park. Our kids have been inseparable since they first moved to Providence 3 years ago and I will be moving away from one of my closest friends. We will miss all of you!

Monday the ladies on the street planned a goodbye luncheon. My friend/neighbor Melissa planned and hosted it in her backyard. It was so nice to sit and visit one last time while the kids played. We had such a fun street to live on. I hope I will be able to have such wonderful neighbors and friends in my new neighborhood. I will miss you all.

After the luncheon I had a quick goodbye visit from Marion Rudiger. I am her visiting teacher. She is 97 years old and still lives in her own house. She takes care of all her flowers in her yard. Hangs the wash up to dry in the backyard, and drives around in her scooter to the store to get her groceries. She also goes to the temple every Wednesday at 4:30 a.m. to be ready for the 5:30 a.m. early session. She stays and does 3 sessions before she goes home for her afternoon nap. And did I mentioned she makes her own bread from scratch (grinding the wheat flour too) every week. I have learned so much from this spunky lady. She tells me all the time, "You just have to keep moving and serve others. Stop thinking about yourself and get to work. It will cure all your problems."

We have made such wonder memories here in Cache Valley. We will never forget you all.

Packing

We have to be out tomorrow, June 1st at 12:00 p.m. That is when the carpet cleaner is coming. So we began the process of packing everything we own last week, and weeding out the things we don't need anymore. Boy, you don't realize how much stuff you have till you have to pack it all. We rented a u-haul truck that Josh picked up last Friday night. We got the largest one they had, 26 feet. Josh said it was a monster to drive through town.
We worked very hard, and had everything in boxes and out in the garage for the Elders quorum (Men from our church) to help load the truck. The only thing they had to lift from the house was the piano and the couches. They were all done in 1/2 hour. We were given the award for the most prepared movers the Ward had ever seen. Then Josh drove to the storage unit in Farr West where Von and all his friends along with Uncle Joel and Jed helped unload everything. The last stop was the house to unload the piano and food. We couldn't have done it with out all these wonderful men helping. Thank you!
We decided to spend Saturday and Sunday night in our old house in sleeping bags. We had to be very creative to find ways to entertain the kids with nothing in the house. We played duck duck goose, and told lots of stories. It was then we remembered we could watch DVD's on the computer.
I'm so glad the first part of our move is almost over. Tomorrow I will finish cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms before we hand over the keys and sign the papers. I will be driving up all week so the kids can finish their last week of school.
